About the Artist
Paul, a native of San Diego California, first began creating photographs
swerving as a Gunner on AC 130 Gunships in the USAF.
Upon returning home Paul earned a degree in Photography after which he moved to
Greenville, Michigan.
While in Michigan Paul served as President of the Western Michigan Professional
Photographers Association and President of teh Michigan Professional Photographers
Association. It was while he was in Michigan that he earned his Photographic Craftsman
Degree from the Professional Photographers of America and was offered membership by
invitation to the American Society of Photographers. In 1986 he undertook a project
during Michigan’s Sesquicentennial. With the backing of Eastman Kodak Company the project:
“Michigan- A Professional Photographic Salute” was born.
It was a project similar to various “Day in the Life” projects of the time.
Paul and 29 other professional photographers set out on June 1st.1986 to cover the entire
state in one 24-hour period. The project yielded a book,
“Michigan-A Professional Photographic Salute”, a 1000 image traveling multi-media presentation and a 150-image museum print exhibit.
The print exhibit opened in the newly renovated Michigan State Capitol.
After having established a successful high-end portrait business, Paul felt led to pursue
teaching opportunities in the South. In 1993 Paul moved to Greenville, South Carolina
and was granted a position at a University where his responsibilities included a variety of
photographic assignments, studio management, curriculum development and the teaching
of photographic courses.
In the spring of 2000 Paul was offered the opportunity to represent a wide variety of the
new digital photographic devices being made available to the photographic industry. He
considered this an excellent opportunity to get exposed to and develop expertise in the
technology of the new millennium. It also allowed him to visit some of the most
successful and creative minds in the photographic industry.
